BSAR considering a temporary shutdown
We know the first couple years can be rough; trying to figure out breeds, blood lines, set up, trials and errors. But it seems like life's had it out for us since September of 2018. We've recently lost a foundation doe, conception rate is becoming really low, we're still trying to figure out what we're going to do about our current Lionhead crisis and worry that even if we do sink in some money on a good buck, nobody will have any litters anyways. Plus our breeder and editor is turning 18 this year and she has enough worries, so she is now considering hanging up breeding until she gets her own place and better opportunities for her own farm (as we are currently based off her mom's property and have limited choices on building areas and rabbit population).
This route would be for the best of Jen and our rabbits. It may not be today, and it may not be this month, but if we continue to have conception issues and slow growth rates despite quality feed, large rations, and coccidiosis treatment, we will have no other choice but to take a break, recoup, and figure things out.
Until we hatch a plan, we'll continue to try breeding, even if it's just for freezer kits. It started out well in the beginning, I mean, we had two litters without even trying or knowing about them! But it's starting to become a struggle, making a shut down probable.

Join us at Gallipolis, OHio's Tractor Supply every first Saturday of every month!
Every first Saturday of every month after March, a friend of our farm and rabbitry hosts a small sized animal swap meet in the TSC's parking lot from 9AM to 12PM. Feel free to join us in selling, buying, or trading poultry, rabbits, livestock, supplies, and pets and enjoy good company and clean animals! We sell right out the backs of our vehicles with pop up canopies and lawn chairs just chatting like good friends, with me often holding a rabbit or bird in my lap like a model. If you're not here, you're missing out!

Results from the August 2018 Mason County Fair in Point Pleasant, West Virginia!
We had a good turn out this year at our local fair, and had fun showing our open division poultry and rabbits. We picked up our first pair of Californians from here, and saw a lot of interesting breeds and even met and talked with a few new breeders!
